Eight!!!

My baby girl turned eight this week! I can't believe she is so big, although it does seem like a long time ago that she was my baby. We watched her birth video (non-graphic) and I always cry when I remember what it was like to become a mom for the first time. I am so thankful that we are blessed with her. She is such a good girl and I love being her mom.

Some pictures of the big day. . .

The cake. . .

when did it become cool to get clothes? for Kailey, always! And yes the "white ranger" made an appearance at the party.

cleaning

I just had to let you know what I did that is totally awesome. And yes, I know I am a total dork for thinking this is cool. I wanted to make my own shower cleaner (because I ran out) and found the coolest trick out there, and it totally worked. It was ddddddddddddddddddddddddddd (that's the drumroll) ddddd wipe with a damp dryer sheet and rinse. I kid you not my shower doors were beautifully shiny!
Thought I would pass that on as I am now dealing with getting crayon stains out of an entire load of laundry :)

too old

Kailey asked me why Ellie is going to be our last baby. I told her that babies are a lot of work and I am not sure I handle another. Her response was, "Oh, and you are getting kinda old too, what are you almost 50?"
Wow, and here I thought I didn't look a day over 45.

imagination gone wild

Our house has been invaded, that's right the last few nights we have had an evil fairy break-in to Logan's room. The perpetrator has been said to open closet doors that were shut and cast evil spells on toys that make them come to life. Obviously Logan has been running into my room every night to sleep on the floor. Any ideas on how to exterminate "evil fairies"?

Also a few weeks ago in the middle of lunch Logan came running to me, "mom there is a plant outside our kitchen window that came to life. It is jumping around the backyard looking for a door to come in."
"Does this plant have arms?"
"No, just legs to jump with."
"Then we should be safe since it can't open the door. What did this plant look like?"
"It was round, with big eyebrows, and was jumping across the backyards."
"Logan, are you sure it wasn't just a tumbleweed?"
"Oh, yeah, it was just a tumble weed, my brain was tricking me."

Christmas

We had a great Christmas. My whole family (minus my brother, boo hoo) were able to come to my house for a week. Here are the highlights:

  • Christmas Eve at the Thurgoods, lots of food, white elephant exchange, talent show by the kids!
  • Christmas Eve night, my parents and sister came!!! We did the nativity, ate, and waited for other sister and family to arrive
  • got a new camera, still haven't figured it out
  • Logan felt bad when he accidentally hit his brother with his new lightsaber, giving him a black eye, and said emotionally, "that is a dangerous toy, why would wal-mart make a dangerous toy."
  • Lots and lots of yummy food, my first time making Christmas dinner, and it was good!
  • My other sister and family joined us the day after Christmas!!
  • No adults got sick!
  • Adult boys all went to Portland to ski and take in a basketball game. Allowing us girls to play games and visit.
  • Grandparents took "big kids" to "princess and the frog"
  • Went out to Mongolian with mom and sisters.
  • laughed hysterically to reruns of "who's line is it"
  • Logan referring to his new toy as a "VFO". "No, Logan it's a UFO." "No, Mom it's a me-FO"
