Astronaut talk

Logan is super interested in Star Wars and astronauts lately. Here are a few of our recent conversations on astronauts.

First when asked by his preschool teacher what he wants to be when he is a grown-up, "a star wars guy." Good Luck with that.

A few nights ago we were reading a book about astronauts, what the space center looks like, and how they use a centrifuge to train. When we finished the book I asked the kids if they would like to be astronauts when they are bigger. Logan says, "ya, when I am 12." Somehow this is the golden # for Logan that defines adulthood. And Kailey says, "no way, not if you have to go on the spinney thing." Atta-girl. I then went on to tell Logan you have to go to lots of school and college to be an astronaut, so he will be bigger that 12.

The next morning Logan asks if Daddy is at school.
Me: "No daddy went to school for a long time and now he is done and goes to work."
Logan: "But Daddy is not an astronaut."
So Daddy, why would you go to school for so long and not be an astronaut, what a waste.

Later that night Logan was building me a space ship out of Lego's but it kept breaking (generic Duplo just don't make good space ships).
Logan: "It's alright mom, I can fix it."
Me: "Are you the astronaut engineer that fixes things?"
Logan: very matter-of-factly "no, I am your boy."
